About us:
Dave Russell
Dave has competed domestically and internationally with his Papillons since 2008. In this relatively short time they have achieved some amazing results and experiences.
With Caeyn David represented Great Britain at the European Open Agility Championships in Sweden 2012 reaching the small final, represented Great Britain at the IFCS Agility Championships in Gerona 2013 coming home with a Snooker Bronze Medal and together they represented England at the WAO World Championships 2012-2014. At their first trip in 2012 to Belgium they together became WAO Pentathlon WORLD CHAMPIONS. Caeyn also achieved several Reserve CC's in the Champ classes domestically and won a CC. Cae was also part of a team to compete at Crufts on 2 occasions with results that included a win and a 4th place. Caeyn's career was sadly shortened due to back surgery which thankfully he came through and now enjoys a quiet life.
Kyto, David's second Papillon also achieved Grade 7 in domestic competitions and also represented GB at the IFCS World Championships in Holland 2016 where he finished 8th overall which for such a midget at just 20cm at the withers was a fantastic result. Unfortunately Kyto did struggle compared to most in the small height, having to jump 15cm more than his height. Kyto unluckily missed out on the chance to run at the LHO due to sustaining a freak injury to his shoulder which resulted in wearing external framework to try and allow all the ligaments and tendons to repair so as such at the age of 3yrs and 10mths he retired from agility as we didn't want to ask him to jump again despite Veterinary advice saying he potentially could.
David now has a Dutch bred 5yr old Papillon, Vudu, who has had a bit of an interrupted career so far due to an injury taking him out of competing for most of 2019 followed by covid. Nevertheless, Vudu is currently grade 5, represented GB at IFCS in Holland 2019, qualified for IFCS 2020 in Belgium (cancelled due to covid) and has qualified to represent GB at IFCS 2022 in Holland.
Ceri Jones
Ceri has been training and competing with dogs for over 30 years. Starting out in Obedience where she competed up to Class B and she competed at Crufts in the KCJO competitions for a number of years with her dogs Tod, Murphy and Brynn. Ceri and Tod won the Test of Obedience at Crufts 1995 and were also the top Junior obedience team of the year across the country. Murphy and Brynn both competed in the Advanced obedience where they both placed on a number of occasions including a 2nd and Midlands team wins. Brynn also competed in the KCJO Senior Agility where, despite having almost lost him just 6mths earlier due to Addisons Disease, he managed to come second (a very emotional day and a fitting place to retire Brynn). Ceri, Tod and Brynn were also members of the first ever junior Flyball team to compete at Crufts and were instrumental in the development of the Junior Flyball Crufts competition.
Ceri made the move over to concentrate on Agility instead of splitting the time competing between obedience and Agility when she started with Tekcyn. Tek reached Grade 7 and competed in a number of Champ classes. He was a speedy boy with amazing contacts who loved his agility. Tekcyn retired at 12 and is now enjoying his retirement. Ceri also has a Sheltie, Celtyr who achieved Grade 7 status but unfortunately he got frightened at a show which set him back a bit. With gentle handling Celt managed to get back in to the ring enjoying himself and continued to run with Ceri's mum, Janet (Longden Dog Training Club) so she had another dog to run.
Ceri and Taezyr have achieved Grade 7 status despite being held back for as long as possible in Grade 5 to ensure he was ready for the skills needed for the higher grades. Taez won a lot of classes along the way and even managed to qualify for the Novice Cup semi final at the KCIAF with results that included another G5 jumping win. In the Semi final, despite a slight blip he still managed a clear and finished 2nd, just a fraction of a second behind the winner. This result meant he qualified for the final at Crufts 2015. At the final, Taez put in a blistering time that was almost a second quicker but unfortunately had 5F on the long jump. Taez has gone on the represent the UK at IMCA 2017 in Austria and GB at IFCS 2017 in Spain where he narrowly missed out on getting the gamble which cost him the gold medal. Taez has also qualified to represent GB at IFCS 2018 in Italy, 2019 in Holland, 2020 Belgium which sadly could not take place and now IFCS 2022 in Holland.
